Directions

Shanghai Gate is located on Harvard Avenue in the Allston section of Boston, MA, just a few doors away from where Harvard Avenue intersects with Commonwealth Avenue.

Parking

Shanghai Gate doesn't have a parking lot of its own. There is metered parking available on the nearby streets, but we'd recommend planning to use public transportation. We're right on major bus and subway / trolley routes (see below).

Public Transporation

By train: take the Green Line (B, Boston College branch) the Harvard Avenue stop. Going outbound, Shanghai Gate is in the first block of Harvard Ave to your left (Great Scott's is on the corner). Going inbound, Shanghai Gate is in the first block of Harvard Avenue to your right, and across Harvard Avenue from Uno Chicago Grill.

By bus: the 66 bus route runs right along Harvard Avenue in front of the restaurant. Heading outbound, toward Harvard Square, the Commonwealth Avenue stop is in the same block as Shanghai Gate, just a few feet away. Heading inbound, toward Dudley Station, the Commonwelath Avenue stop is diagonally opposite the block Shanghai Gate is in. Cross Commonwealth Avenue toward Uno Chicago Grill, then cross Harvard Avenue toward Great Scott. Shanghai Gate is a few yards away on your right.

Detailed Driving Directions

From Mass Pike, 90: Take exit 18 Cambridge/Allston. As you exit the tolls, stay to left for the Allston side of the exit. The exit ramp will merge into Cambridge St. Follow Cambridge Street about a mile, until you reach Harvard Avenue on your left, right after the Sports Depot sign. Take the left onto Harvard Avenue and follow it to Commonwealth Ave (the second traffic light). Shanghai Gate is in the first block of Harvard Avenue on your left after you cross Commonwealth Avenue.

From Storrow Drive: Take Storrow Drive to the Kenmore or Cambridge Street Allston exit. From Kenmore take a right hand turn onto Beacon Street. Follow Beacon Street through the Square, keeping in the right hand lanes so you can take the right fork onto Commonwealth Avenue when the road splits up the other side of the Square. Follow Commonwealth Avenue about 1 1/2 miles until the road forks again at Brighton Avenue. Keep to the left to stay on Commonwealth Avenue. The second light is the intersection with Harvard Avenue, with Shanghai Gate in the first block to your left. If you take the Cambridge Street exit from Storrow Drive instead, take a lefthand turn at the top of the exit ramp onto Cambridge Street. Cambridge Street intersect with Harvard Avenue after about a mile. Take a lefthand turn onto Harvard Avenue right after the Sports Depot sign. Follow Harvard Avenue through two traffic lights - the first one is Brighton Avenue, the second is Commonwealth Avenue. Shanghai Gate is in the first block of Harvard Avenue after you cross Commonwealth Avenue at the second light, on your left.
